SAM Tools

The Software Asset Management market is growing and offers loads of applications and tools. New ones are being launched every day. Companies are advised to critically monitor demand and supply – and to set their own requirements and objectives according to that.

At Compliance Group, we support the entire range of SAM tools, from contributing with our knowledge around application selection and configuration, to data typing and digitalization of documents, to compliance overview, process descriptions and recommendations for user optimization.

  • Why use a SAM tool?
A tool provides a complete overview of the software and hardware installed and used on the company’s machines (desktops and servers). A tool is a prerequisite if you want to avoid over- or under licensing as well as manual work.
  • What can a SAM tool provide that we do not already have?
A SAM tool provides an overview of the software installed, the location of the software and how much the software is being used. Finally, the tool identifies the software being subject to licensing.
  • Why is the software recognition database important?
The SAM tool you decide to buy must have a strong and proven software recognition database. The recognition database is the key part of most SAM projects as it reduces the risk of human errors and ensures that the process around software recognition is optimised and automised.
  • How come a SAM tool cannot stand alone?
A SAM tool cannot stand alone. A license overview also includes looking at processes and procedures. SAM is a combination of a tool and the processes surrounding it.

Our consultants have many years’ experience of working with SAM tools. We believe that the choice of a SAM tool should be based on the individual requirements and wishes you have for your SAM project.

If you do not already have a SAM tool, Compliance Group can assist you in the process of selecting the right tool. We are working closely with two providers of SAM tools, namely SNOW Software and Novell ZenWorks Asset Management. Read more under the individual SAM tools.

Compliance Group also assists in the review and optimisation of existing processes as well as the implementation of new processes (where necessary and relevant).
